For some years the Shumska municipality of the Ternopil oblast has managed to arrange waste sorting. Now sorted waste is sold, whereas domestic household waste is brought to the dump on a centralized basis.

At the cost of the state subvention a refuse truck has been purchased, container pavilions have been installed at the cost of the local budget. Facilitated by the DOBRE Programme, 2145 individual containers have been bought for residential areas, 26 container areas and 78 containers for separate waste collection have been arranged.
