The Government and Parliament work coherently to implement decentralisation. And the next step should be to streamline the supervision of the lawfulness of local self-government decisions, said Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman in his interview to Ukrinform.
“I moved to work from local to central authorities at the invitation of Prime Minister Yatsenyuk as a regional policy expert. In addition, I had a successful eight-year experience in city management. Then, with the support of the Prime Minister, we succeeded in laying the foundations that yield result. We have formed the main package of changes to be made. After the presidential elections, I found support of the Head of State. We began to implement this global reform, and then the deputies got inspired. Today we work in a coherence,” said Volodymyr Groysman.
The Prime Minister called regulation of state supervision over the lawfulness of decisions of local self-government bodies among the issues that still need to be resolved.
“Are there any problems? Yes, of course there are. We have transferred finances and powers to the ground, but control is not yet perfect. It should not be superfluous and excessive, but balancing. And if we now manage to regulate all these three factors among themselves, the process will become of even better quality,” said Volodymyr Groysman.
