Education decentralisation strengthening project launched in Ukraine

“Decentralisation: Reforming Education at the Local Level” is the project initiated by the Civil Organisation “Centre Dobrochyn” in five pilot oblasts – the Chernihiv, Volyn, Kherson, Odesa and Luhansk ones.

Decentralisation of education is one of the real steps towards territory development. According to the current practice of hromada work, the quality of education is currently at the heart of serious discussions with teachers, parents, local deputies and other stakeholders. Today, hromadas do not always have enough finances to support the existing educational network, but they can be balanced and wisely spent together with the hromada, enabling children to receive high-quality and decent education. Only through the educational reform can equal access to high-quality secondary education be provided to all residents of both small villages and cities.

The project is aimed at improving the quality of education and efficiency of budget expenditures in the five pilot hromadas of the Chernihiv, Kherson, Volyn, Odesa and Luhansk Oblasts.

The project is implemented under the financial support of the British Embassy in Ukraine as part of the project “Decentralisation: Reforming Education at the Local Level”.
