Call for applications for European Week of Regions and Cities 2026 to open soon

The call for applications to European Week of Regions and Cities (EURegionsWeek) 2026, one of the largest events in EU regional policy, will open very soon.

This year’s event will once again act as an important platform for exchanging ideas, developing partnerships, and sharing experiences on how cohesion policy can help every region succeed. The event will explore new policy priorities and discuss how cohesion policy can evolve, with a focus on its long-term positive impact and a local approach.

This year’s campaign will start with a kick-off meeting on 25 March 2026. Following this event, potential organisers – partners from across Europe and neighbouring countries – will officially be invited to submit their proposals for sessions within the main programme of the Week.

About the European Week of Regions and Cities

The European Week of Regions and Cities is a key annual platform to discuss EU cohesion policy and its impact at the local level. The event brings together representatives of regional and local administrations, European Commissioners, Members of the European Parliament, experts, and community leaders.

In 2026, the event is planned to be held in October in Brussels. Participation in the event offers a unique opportunity to:

  • Present successful reconstruction and development projects, including the experience of Ukrainian communities in implementing the principles of European governance.
  • Establish direct contacts with representatives of European institutions and potential partners for future initiatives.
  • Obtain relevant information on current trends in regional policy, funding instruments (in particular, grant opportunities) and innovative approaches to territorial development.

Meanwhile, applications are already open for the prestigious REGIOSTARS Awards 2026, which recognises the best projects supported by the EU’s cohesion policy. The awards ceremony will also take place in October in Brussels, during the European Week of Regions and Cities.

How to participate?

Follow the updates on the official EURegionsWeek website and on the ‘Decentralisation’ Portal.

For Ukrainian communities, taking part in such events is an important step towards European integration, an opportunity to showcase their own successes at the international level and to find reliable partners for recovery and development.
