Attending the Forum for Regional Development “Development Opportunities for Mountain Areas in the Context of the Decentralisation Reform”, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stressed the importance of elaborating a development strategy for mountain areas taking into account their specific features.
“I am convinced that we need a regional development strategy for mountain areas. There should be some specifics. I stress once again – Ukrainians living in mountain areas must enjoy the same guarantees in regard to their rights including social welfare, education and healthcare,” the Head of the State said. According to the President, it must be taken into account that an amalgamated hromada located in a mountain area can have a distance of 15 to 20 km in the mountains between its villages.
