The President has signed the amendments to the State Budget 2017 directed at the most urgent and socially important issues.

Petro Poroshenko has signed Law No 2191 – VIII “On Introduction of Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2017”.  

“This is a very important document, since it will allow to use healthcare funds next year. A clear and transparent mechanism for the selection and implementation of projects at the regional level is being developed,” said Maria Gaidar, Head of the Rural Healthcare Initiative of the Presidential Office.

According to Maria Gaidar, the most important thing is that these funds exist, and that the President of Ukraine got rural healthcare issue under his personal control. After implementation of the planned measures, 13 million rural residents will receive the same healthcare assistance as the citizens of cities.

The document provides for the preservation of the remaining subvention funds on the accounts of a special fund to be used for healthcare system development in the rural areas. It will allow to continue financing “Rural Healthcare” initiative of the President in 2018.

In particular, the Law envisages an increase in expenditures for healthcare subvention to ensure timely payment of salaries to the employees of healthcare institutions.

It is worth reminding that the Draft Law on increase of healthcare affordability and quality in rural areas was initiated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and approved by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on 14 November 2017.
