The Khmelnytskyi region is the fifth one to involve in the National Police public security sector reform alongside with the Volyn, Rivne, Kharkiv and Cherkasy regions.

Hromada police officers function in 118 hromadas of Ukraine and 251 hromadas participated in the Hromada Police Officer project, aimed at «the new level of communication and police service», as each hromada will get its police officer, who will be available for the population, permanently being with the hromada residents.

The hromada police officer will enjoy the rights of a law enforcement officer: as a district police officer to complete administrative reports; as a patrol officer – to stop vehicles and complete reports; as an authorisation system officer – to vet vehicle owners; as juvenile prevention – to prevent offences at schools, etc.
