The Government recognised another 175 AHs as capable, - Hennadii Zubko

The Government recognised the capacity of 175 amalgamated hromadas, where the first local elections took place in 2017-2018, as well as hromadas where the first local elections are scheduled for 23 December 2018, informed Hennadii Zubko, Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine, at the governmental meeting.

“From now on, these hromadas can fully exercise their self-governing powers. And this is also a possibility of voluntary accession to these AHs. Today's decision is another indication of the Government's unchangeable position in support of amalgamated hromadas that believed in the reform. Let’s move forward!” said Hennadii Zubko.

It should be reminded that yesterday the Vice Prime Minister made a statement regarding the lawsuit filed with the demand to cancel the first elections in 34 AHs, scheduled for 23 December 2018. According to him, this lawsuit of the opponents of decentralisation as the most successful reform have threatened not only the holding of the first elections in AHs, but also people's desire for hromadas’ development, the opportunity to get the changes for the better. “Our stance: measures to secure a claim cannot in any way stop the process of appointment, preparation and holding of elections. The most successful decentralisation reform is irreversible,” noted Hennadii Zubko.
