Residents of the Mateyivetska AH say that in one and a half years of hromada’s existence they managed to do more than during all years of independence.

The Mateyivetska AH was formed on 18 December 2016. It was headed by Petro Knyshuk, initiator and most eager supporter for its formation.

The hromada with its centre in Mateyivtsi includes 11 villages.

Petro Knyshuk believes that due to decentralisation once depressed villages will become the best in the oblast.

"Decentralisation is a step forward: the state helps with money, but I think it's only at the beginning, and one cannot but use this chance. Those, who did it (established the AH, ed.), were the first to go far ahead, those, who amalgamated in a year or two, appeared to be a year or two behind, and those, who plan to do in the future or will not do it, will lag behind forever," says Mr Knyshuk.

This year, UAH 36.2 million of revenues have been envisaged in the budget of the Mateyivetska AH. Own revenues will amount to UAH 8.8 million. The rest will come with subsidies and subventions from the state budget.

"We have major repairs in schools, computerisation and creation of an appropriate educational base on the agenda. We want to make children from other villages come and study here," says Petro Knyshuk.

The Mateyivetska AH knows, where to go and what to do. In 2017 the deputies approved a socio-economic and cultural development programme. It is designed for 5 years with UAH 22.2 million of funding. Later, the hromada development strategy was written by the experts with the support of the DOBRE Programme. It is based on the study of the needs and wishes of the AH residents.

The Mateyivetska AH has also won two international projects.

Due to the U-LEAD with Europe Programme, the Mateyivetska AH will have a modern ASC. Its arrangement will begin when the new building of the village council is completed.

The ASC will provide services of place of residence, marriage, death, subsidies’ registration. There will be a mobile ASC working for the iresidents of remote villages. The car to provide these services will be purchased after the opening of the ASC.
