Ukraine and Switzerland are strengthening their cooperation in the areas of reconstruction and development. Following meetings between Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko and the President of the Swiss Confederation, Karin Keller-Sutter, as well as with the leadership of Swiss agencies and Special Representative for Reconstruction Jacques Gerber, new agreements have been reached that will create more opportunities for Ukrainian communities.
Switzerland has already proven to be one of Ukraine’s most reliable partners. The long-term support that Ukrainians receive includes assistance in the areas of humanitarian demining, medicine, energy and sustainable community development.
Of particular importance for local self-government are 12 infrastructure, social and humanitarian projects. These projects will be implemented in Ukraine with funding from the Swiss government and businesses totalling over CHF 93 million.
Already in autumn 2025, communities will be able to see the tangible results of this cooperation:
Energy and infrastructure
Housing for IDPs
Education
Healthcare
Humanitarian demining
These projects will restore damaged infrastructure and create new economic opportunities for communities, including new jobs and innovative technologies.
Switzerland has also confirmed its long-term commitment within the Ukraine Country Programme, providing CHF 5 billion until 2036. This means support will be systematic and focused on the sustainable development of Ukrainian regions.
‘I am sincerely grateful to the Swiss Government and companies that believe in Ukraine’s recovery. This partnership is a clear example of how international cooperation can lead to tangible changes for our communities and people,’ emphasised Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.
Ukrainian communities are already participating directly in joint Ukrainian-Swiss projects. This cooperation further demonstrates that successful recovery for Ukraine lies in partnership, solidarity and local development.
