The Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine has approved two new draft agreements on international inter-municipal cooperation between Ukrainian communities and their foreign counterparts. The relevant decisions were adopted by Ministry Orders No. 1538 and No. 1542.
Order No. 1542 approved the draft Partnership Agreement between the Kharkiv City Council, the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg, Kehl (Germany) and Strasbourg (France).
The aim of this partnership is to develop joint projects in the areas of urban planning, energy efficiency, digital transformation, and sustainable urban management.
Meanwhile, Order No. 1538 approved the draft Memorandum of Cooperation between Ovruch City Council in the Zhytomyr region (Ukraine) and Vincennes City Council in Indiana (USA). The memorandum outlines plans for collaboration in the areas of local economic development, education, community initiatives, and the enhancement of the institutional capacity of local self-government.
Such decisions show that the network of international inter-municipal cooperation between Ukrainian communities and their foreign counterparts is growing. This is an important element of the decentralisation and regional development policy.
With the support from the Ministry for Development, Ukrainian communities strengthen their ties with foreign partners, exchange experiences, and attract resources for restoration, modernisation, and sustainable development.
