Training on pre-medical assistance - registration of municipality representatives continues until August 16

We invite municipality educators to participate in training on first aid for sudden cardiac arrest and life-threatening conditions.

First aid skills are critical in a war environment where access to professional health care may be limited or unavailable. Given the lack of time and absence of skilled health care workers, it is important to act quickly and decisively, since every second matters. According to leading experts, when 10% of the country’s population has first aid skills, mortality at the pre-hospital stage decreases by an average of 20%.

Today, providing first aid to victims may be the duty of every person, not only the responsibility of health care workers. Participation in the training will allow you to master the skills necessary to respond to crisis situations and save lives. You will be able to pass the gained knowledge and skills to students, colleagues and other civilians in your territorial municipality, expanding the network of people ready to help in a critical moment.

The ability to provide first aid is directly related to the concept of saving life. Purely theoretical knowledge is not sufficient to fully master skills.

Therefore, the training will consist of two parts:

1. Basic and Immediate Cardiovascular Life Support training (approximate duration of training — 1 business day).

During the training, the participants will have the opportunity to get familiar with the basic principles of first aid, including the on-scene safety assessment, identification of signs of life and respiratory arrest, correct methods of opening up the airways, use of an automatic external defibrillator (AED), indirect cardiac massage and much more.

2. Instructor course: Basic and Immediate Cardiovascular Life Support (approximate duration of training — 2 business days).

Certified trainers will introduce specialised algorithms, teach practical skills that will enable the participants to become instructors and run first aid trainings at educational institutions of their municipalities.

Total duration of training: 3 days.

The training program covers the following key topics:

  • On-scene safety assessment and first steps.
  • Identifying signs of life and respiratory arrest.
  • Correct methods of opening up the airways and easing breathing.
  • Artificial respiration using special films with valves.
  • Using an automatic external defibrillator (AED) for cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Indirect cardiac massage and restoration of blood flow.
  • Putting a victim in a stable position and assisting with airway obstruction.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will get certificates from the training company in Ukrainian and English.

Venues of training: Kyiv, Poltava, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia.

We invite participants from the municipalities of the following oblasts to take part in the project: Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Vinnytsia, Odesa, Khmelnytskyi.

Participants are selected on the basis of filled registration forms and compliance with the criteria:

  • Being employed at educational institutions (in public sector) and education management departments
  • Having interest in the training subject
  • Motivation and willingness to teach others
  • Ability to organise and coordinate a group
  • Adherence to ethical standards and professional responsibility
  • Ability to cooperate and work in a team
  • Motivation for constant learning and updating of knowledge

Participants will be provided: Travel (train/bus tickets to and from the venue of training), accommodation for 2 nights in a double room, meals.

Deadline for registration: August 16 inclusive.

The project is implemented by RESKILL NGO (Public name – GOV Club) with the support of U-LEAD with Europe.

Join the project to learn these vital skills. Together, we will be able to contribute to the safety and well-being of our municipalities.
