On 22 June, a round table meeting entitled “Voluntary accession to the city of oblast significance” was held in Novhorod-Siverskyi, and was attended by representatives of the city council and rural hromadas of the Novhorod-Siverskyi Rayon.

The discussion was organised by the Chernihiv Local Government Development Centre, established with the support of the U-LEAD with Europe Programme and MinRegion.

According to Oleksandr Melnyk, local finance adviser of the Chernihiv LGDC, Novhorod-Siverskyi is a formed local self-government with a well-developed infrastructure. The city almost does not need to change anything. Hromada establishment will enhance its capacity, open up opportunities for attracting investment and participation in grant projects.
