Pupils of the Horodok Rayon Complex Rehabilitation Centre for people with disabilities have joined the landscaping of their hometown. Soon the fragrant marigold flowers will bloom on the flowerbeds at the foot of the Mother of God and Obelisk of Glory.

"The idea to do something useful for the hometown came even earlier, in spring. We used the helping "Garden therapy" – a new methodology, the elements of which we introduced in working with children and persons with disabilities of our Centre. As communication with nature, the "Garden therapy" contributes to social adaptation, life activity of our kids and youth with disabilities, because most people with disabilities, as a result of their physical condition, are separated from direct communication with the world of nature. And this technique gives the opportunity for self-expression, self-affirmation and self-identification. It is the contact with nature, with its charming variety, that fills life with joy. And the awareness of their own contribution to the life of the city gives a sense of importance. At first, there was a process of sowing seeds, a constant waiting for sprouts, watering – and here's the result – the marigold seedlings have grown, and we are ready to plant them. There was so much joy in the eyes of the children, when they planted flower seedlings, grown with their own hands, themselves," said Lyubov Kazmirchuk, director of the Centre.
