Libraries in amalgamated hromadas of Chernihiv Oblast turn into cultural spaces

How to make the village library a hromada centre? Does the village need it? How to attract a lost reader? The participants of the discussion on "Development of Youth Cultural Space of Hromadas" were looking for the answers to these and other questions. The event was held by the Chernihiv Local Government Development Centre, established with the support of the U-LEAD with Europe Programme and MinRegion, together with the Department of Culture and Tourism, Nationalities and Religions of the Chernihiv Oblast State Administration and the Chernihiv Oblast Universal Scientific Library named after V.H. Korolenko.

The main goal of the event was to present successful practices in the development of public libraries in hromadas, discuss problems faced by the humanitarian sphere workers (librarians, cultural institutions), and develop joint steps to solve them. The event was attended by the representatives of AHs – deputy heads and heads of cultural departments, as well as directors of libraries.

The participants got acquainted with the work of the Chernihiv Oblast Youth Centre, ready to cooperate with rural libraries, learnt where to get money for development. In particular, Lyudmyla Chabak, decentralisation adviser of the Chernihiv LGDC, informed the participants about international programmes and internal projects to join in order to receive grants.
