"Due to decentralisation, hromadas received more powers and responsibility. Now they make their own decisions, attract investors and win grants for the development of local infrastructure. The Vakulivska AH, that was the first to amalgamate in Ukraine, is a vivid example of a successful self-governance. The hromada has already illuminated all the streets, there are squares being arranged and roads being repaired. All this may seem usual, but the peasants received all these civilization benefits only with decentralisation," said Valentyn Reznichenko.

The centre of Vakulove village looked uncared two years ago. Today it is cozy and modern with leisure area, playground, LED fountain and a free wi-fi for all residents. There is a new mini-stadium for training and workout. Сhinning bars, gym walls bars, various gymnastic equipment and a special training cover are at athletes’ disposal.

The Vakulivska AH was formed in 2015. It comprised 18 settlements with more than 3100 residents. Over the years, due to decentralisation, the hromada budget has increased from UAH 2.8 to 40 million.
