Ukrainians have long known: it is better standing together. In modern interpretation it means that it’s easier to survive and grow by forgathering. Smaller villages and towns, united in hromadas, receive significantly higher budgets and wider powers. These are the principles of decentralisation. Local hromada activists, as well as deputies of local councils, can initiate hromada establishment. Experts insist on the advantages of establishing such administrative units. Yulia Stakhalska visited one of the totally young amalgamated hromadas of the Shyroke Rayon.
