Two weeks are left before the end of the year! And we expect local self-governments to implement high-quality projects locally. Today, we see that the balances of local budgets have increased to UAH 79.6 billion. These funds are kept on treasury accounts (UAH 65 billion) and deposits (UAH 14.6 billion), noted Hennadii Zubko, Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine, on his Facebook page.
“We observe a tendency when the volumes of local budget balances are annually increasing. On 1 January 2016 they amounted to UAH 31 billion, on 1 January 2017 they were already UAH 49 billion, and as of 1 November 2017 they have reached UAH 79.6 billion. Over the whole year the balance volumes have grown by more than UAH 30 billion.
Inefficient use of funds on the ground is, first of all, the evidence of absence of projects. Local self-government bodies should be more active in the development and implementation of infrastructure projects, because there is a financial resource for this. Funds sent to local budgets should, above all, work to improve the quality of life in hromadas of Ukraine,” wrote Hennadii Zubko.
