Decentralisation in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast is gaining momentum. Residents of the village and settlement councils who have not yet joined the process, observing the rapid development of the amalgamated hromadas of the oblast, are actively discussing how to access them.
Such public discussions took place on 13 December in the Bahate village council of the Novomoskovsk Rayon.
Experts from the Dnipropetrovsk Local Government Development Centre, established with the support of the U-LEAD with Europe Programme and MinRegion of Ukraine, shared a detailed description of the progress of the Dnipropetrovsk AHs, large-scale infrastructure projects implemented in the villages and rural settlements of the oblast in the framework of decentralisation, and significant financial capabilities of hromadas.
“For the first time in many years street lighting is installed, roads, schools, kindergartens and healthcare posts are renovated, new jobs are created in the settlements of the amalgamated hromadas. People from different parts of the country come to learn the experience of the hromadas of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and take on our experience. We want all our territories to be developed, successful and capable, so we offer those who are still doubtful to visit the neighbouring AHs and witness the fundamental changes that have taken place there. The village of Bahate has every chance to justify its name. Thus, you have to take advantage of the chance given to you by the state,” said Olena Tertyshna, director of the Dnipropetrovsk LGDC.
The decentralisation expert Olha Kiryeyeva and legal advisor of the LGDC Vitaliy Konovalov explained the amalgamation procedure to the residents of Bahate, answered all the questions the local residents were concerned about, and assured them of their readiness to provide the necessary methodological assistance.
