There is a modern nine-storeyed building on the former wasteland territory. A residential building is being constructed in line with the latest energy-saving technologies in Slobozhanske rural settlement. According to Valentyn Reznichenko, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast State Administration, the residents of the settlement, who are on the housing waiting list, will receive the keys from over one hundred two- and three-room apartments.

“This year, for the first time in more than a quarter century, social housing is being built from scratch in the oblast. It became possible due to successful decentralisation initiated by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. Hromadas’ budgets are growing, and they have the opportunity to develop their own infrastructure – build kindergartens and residential buildings,” said Valentyn Reznichenko. “The Slobozhanska hromada is a remarkable example of the reform success. A whole residential district is being constructed on the former wasteland there. A new kindergarten has been already working in the area, while the residential building and sports complex are next to appear”.

The multi-storeyed two-entrance house is being built at the expense of oblast and local costs. The 3rd and 4th floors are under construction in different sections. Utility lines have been set up for the whole building.

“I am very grateful to the Oblast State Administration for their support,” said Ivan Kaminskyi, chairman of the Slobozhanske rural settlement council. “Today more than two hundred Slobozhanske residents are in the housing waiting list. Therefore, the house with 106 apartments is a great help.”

Modern energy-saving technologies are used in construction. Subsequently, the roof and façade will be insulated, and energy-saving windows installed. Each apartment will be equipped with individual heating. The technical floor, elevators, stairs and basement will be heated by heat pumps installed on the roof for each block of apartments. It will help to save money.

The apartments will be delivered on a turnkey basis. There will be interior decoration provided, as well as gas boilers and bathroom equipment installed.

Children’s playgrounds with swings will be set up as well. Besides, bushes and trees will be planted, and walkways asphalted.

Contractors plan to accomplish their work by the end of 2018.
