Decentralisation is irreversible, and investment in hromadas is way to country’s development, - participants of regional “Investments & Decentralisation” forum

The regional “Investments & Decentralisation” forum was held in Chernihiv on 24 November. This event has become a communicative platform for the representatives of amalgamated hromadas, authorities and business, who were able to share their opinions, talk about achievements and challenges.

Iryna Kudryk, director of the Chernihiv Local Government Development Centre, said: “Today our LGDC together with the Chernihiv Oblast State Administration have created a free space for the exchange of the best practices of local self-government. The participants include a lot of professional experts, both scientists and practitioners, representatives of the U-LEAD with Europe programme, International Trade Club in Ukraine, and central executive authorities.”

Welcoming the participants of the forum, Valeriy Kulich, head of the Chernihiv Oblast State Administration, noted that such events are a great opportunity to present the oblast’s potential to investors. “The Soviet model of governance has long been outdated. Existing division into rayons constrains development, taking into account the demographic and geographical features of the Chernihiv Oblast. The oblast is alive due to capable hromadas, and investors provide significant opportunities for the latter,” noted Mr Kulich.
