Elections in the Amalgamated Communities Is the Birthday of New Prospects of Ukraine, Hennadii Zubko

The first elections in the amalgamated territorial communities means the possibility to strengthen the local self-government and effect systemic changes in Ukraine. It was emphasised by Vice-Prime Minister - Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko on Sunday, 18 December 2016, at the briefing in the town of Nova Borova during his business trip to Zhytomyr Region.

"First of all, these elections, in fact, is the birthday of new communities, of the new prospects of Ukraine. Today, 22 Oblasts (Regions) are holding elections which are to result in additional 143 communities. Today is important in terms of strengthening the local self-government and effecting systemic changes in Ukraine", Zubko said.

The Vice-Prime Minister visited the Novoborivska amalgamated territorial community where he met with the most active members of the community and inspected the local upper secondary school and the kindergarten which were renovated for account of the funds of the State Fund for Regional Development.

"Today, we see the school, kindergarten, school bus, athletic field, alternative fuel boiler house, repaired roads, library - and such changes are taking place all over Ukraine. The increasing number of amalgamated territorial communities and the increase of their income mean the development of Ukraine and the growth of its independence", Hennadii Zubko underlined.

On 18 December 2016, the first elections were held in 143 amalgamated territorial communities, specifically in: 76 village, 46 town, and 21 city communities which are located in 22 regions of Ukraine (Vinnytsia, Volynska, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zakarpatska, Zaporizhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovohrad, Luhansk, Lviv, Mykolayiv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Kherson, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Chernivtsi, and Chernihiv Oblasts).

On 11 December 2016, the first elections were held in 41 amalgamated territorial communities, in which elections 133 territorial communities of 13 Oblasts of the country took part.
