The future network of academic lyceums in Ukraine is now viewable on an interactive map.
The updated website „Reform of Upper Secondary Education: Specialised” offers a map of the network of specialised senior secondary schools.
Parents and schoolchildren can select their region and community, view educational institutions and their status, and find out which lyceums are already taking part in the reform pilot project.
The map was created by experts of the Swiss-Ukrainian DECIDE Project in partnership with and at the request of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, in cooperation with the departments of education and science in all regions of Ukraine and communities.
As of September 2026, according to monitoring data from the NUS Office of the Ministry of Education and Science:
This means that the establishment of the network of specialised senior secondary schools is already in its final stages.
From 1 September 2027, the specialised senior secondary school system will be operational nationwide.
As previously reported, after Grade 9, students will be able to choose their future educational path: to continue their studies at an academic lyceum or to pursue education at a vocational or technical college.
In academic lyceums, students will study in Grades 10-12 and choose a profile according to their interests and plans for further education.
Grade 10 will be an adaptation year: students will be able to review their choice and, if necessary, change their profile.
DECIDE supports the national government, regions, and communities in preparing for the reform and establishing a capable network of academic lyceums.
Since March 2025, DECIDE expert teams have been conducting consultations on modelling the network, taking into account the number of students, demographic forecasts, geographical accessibility, the organisation of transport, and the capacity of future lyceums to provide students with a real choice of profiles.
During the discussions on the reform in 2024–2025 in 24 regions of Ukraine, mayors and deputy mayors, as well as heads of education authorities from over 1,300 communities, took part.
Since 2025, DECIDE expert groups have covered more than 682 communities through on-site and online consultations, and have also taken part in public discussions on the reform with teaching staff, parents, and local councillors.
A separate area of work is the development of inter-municipal cooperation. This tool enables communities to jointly establish, maintain, and finance academic lyceums and ensure that children have access to high-quality specialised education regardless of where they live.
Within the framework of the direction on developing cooperation between communities, DECIDE will help to conclude 45 cooperation agreements between communities, covering over 100 communities. The grants will result in the creation of laboratories in academic lyceums, the purchase of school buses, and the renovation of boarding facilities.
On the interactive map, you can find your region and community, view the network of future academic lyceums and see where the nearest vocational and technical colleges are located.
If your community needs consulting support from DECIDE experts on modelling a network of specialised senior secondary schools, please submit an application via this link.
