UAH 3 billion for educational spaces in schools — Government Resolution

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the procedure and requirements for providing subsidies to renovate educational spaces in schools, as part of the New Ukrainian School reform. A total of UAH 3 billion has been allocated for this purpose.

The funds will be allocated for the following purposes in 2026:

UAH 1.3 billion – to gymnasiums

The funds will be used to create modern educational spaces in institutions which will cease to provide specialised secondary education from the 2027/28 academic year onwards. The funding will enable the purchase of educational equipment and furniture for physics, chemistry, and biology classrooms, STEM laboratories, and arts education spaces, as well as computer and multimedia technology.

UAH 1.2 billion – to pilot lyceums for specialised secondary school reform

The funds will primarily be used to equip natural science laboratories – for physics, chemistry and biology – as well as STEM laboratories. The aim is to provide high-quality education in pilot lyceums and establish the conditions necessary for the comprehensive implementation of specialised senior secondary schools.

Note: Pilot lyceums operating remotely, particularly in frontline regions, may purchase the following items: tablets, laptops, Chromebooks, graphics tablets, licensed software, electronic resources and e-literature.

UAH 500 million – to ‘Defence of Ukraine’ centres

Funding is provided to establish centres in schools, as well as in inter-school resource centres.

Communities can use the subsidy funds to purchase:

  • furniture;
  • educational and laboratory equipment;
  • computer and multimedia equipment.

Mandatory requirements for receiving a subsidy:

  • the subsidy is provided on the condition that local budgets provide co-financing;
  • the founders must ensure that the premises where the equipment will be installed undergo ongoing maintenance and capital repairs;
  • all purchases are made in full compliance with the requirements of the Ukraine Facility and the principles of transparency and public accountability.

In 2026, the government will transition from selective re-equipment to the comprehensive creation of educational spaces. This involves simultaneously renewing equipment, furniture, and premises.  This approach will ensure that government investments contribute to improving the quality and accessibility of education, as well as the sustainability of the education system in wartime.
