How a municipality can influence the library development: creating supervisory boards

For the first time in the history of Ukrainian libraries development, draft Law on amending Law of Ukraine On Libraries and Library Services №5002 proposes the notion of a Supervisory Board (Article 19). Under the draft, the library founder can establish the library supervisory board as a consultative collegiate body, the main task of which is to facilitate the library development.

Creating such a consultative body will enable the municipality to influence the library development: to form the strategy, advocate library needs, involve additional resources, disseminate information on the library activity and draw more attention to library significance in municipalities.
