In different countries teachers’ work payment depends on the local legislation, traditions and culture. According to the Nova Ukrainska Shkola (the New Ukrainian School), it is impossible to completely take somebody else’s pattern of reforming the labour payment system but it is beneficial to study it.
Yan Gerchynskyi, Anzori Barkalaya, Romas Turonis have written the book “How to pay teachers: Three patterns of reforming the teachers’ labour payment system in Eastern Europe”.
Each of the former Warsaw pact country chose its own way of reforms. Changes were taking place at a different pace. In Poland the teachers’ salaries reform occurred in 2002, in Estonia it was held in 2013, in Lithuania – in 2016.
Each country faced its challenges. The peculiarities of each country reforms are covered in the article by the New Ukrainian School.
