More than twenty craftsmen in one territory, hundreds of participants in master classes and lots of interesting clay art works – all this is the "Kumanets" festival, held for the second time in the Menska amalgamated hromada. The festival is part of the traditional Trinity Fair. And pottery art very easily permeated the celebration of the Green Sunday, moreover “Kumanets” supplemented the fair with new content and customs.

 

"By combining old customs with new traditions, hromadas create interesting attractions for tourists and residents. They learn to look for the "features" and offer them to the guests. In addition, local people have to practice in creating a tourist product, determine its value, study the benefits and demand", noted the Chernihiv Local Government Development of the U-LEAD with Europe Programme.

 

 

According to Hennadii Prymakov, mayor of the city, the pottery art festival this year has become larger in scale and can be called international, since potters from America, Poland and Belarus werev among its participants.

The idea of ​​the festival belongs to Oleh Lutsuk. He said: “Why pottery? Because I'm a potmaker myself. Therefore, it was easy for me to create such a competition. I am acquainted with many craftsmen. This art is already developed In the Menska AH. But when I just moved to Stolne and said that the tourists would come here, people did not believe it. Now, every month, visitors from all over Ukraine visit master classes, local children come to study. Mena becomes a tourist mecca. There are no such festivals in the oblast.”

 

 

 

 

"Festivals give an opportunity to go up in the world. We are individuals, everyone works at a workshop, and shows up at the festival,” said Roman Stepanenko, a folk artist and a member of the National Union of Folk Art Craftsmen.
