In 2019, the youth capital of Ukraine will be a city of Kamyanets-Podilskyi. 10 cities, such as Ivano-Frankivsk, Kamyanets-Podilskyi, Kremenchuk, Lutsk, Mariupol, Odesa, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, and Chernihiv, competed for victory in the final of the competition “Youth capital of Ukraine”.
“My greetings to the wonderful and old city of Kamyanets-Podilskyi with victory in this competition! Thanks to the competition, we can see vivid and interesting examples of active youth work in regions, projects of youth organisations, real cases of joint activity between youth and local authorities. I am grateful to all participants of the competition, to each city and AH shown the youth policy in regions is strengthening year after year”, said Ihor Zhdanov, Minister of Youth and Sports.
Oleksandr Yarema, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, thanked participants and finalists of the competition for their work in the cities within the youth policy.
“It was very interesting to study the experience being used in new approaches and forms of the youth policy. This work is inspiring. The aim of the competition is to use dialogue and make young people feel needed, respectful and important in the life of each city. I wish every city to become a winner!”
It is worth mentioning that last year the Ministry of Youth and Sports together with the Ukrainian Institute of International Policy, the National Youth Council of Ukraine launched the national competition "Youth Capital of Ukraine", with the support of the Association of Ukrainian Cities and the Association of AHs, which aims to intensify cooperation between youth and local self-government, and to promote the creation of comfortable conditions for development of youth in the cities of Ukraine. In 2018, the the city of Lviv was recognised as the best place for young people to live in and to develop.
