On 3 July, the Nova Chornorudka village council supported the initiative to establish the Vchorayshenska AH. This is the last of 9 hromadas that have decided to amalgamate. 9 out of 7 village councils, planned at the start of the discussion process, gave their consent at hearings and council sessions as a result of the work of hromadas’ activists and advisory support of the experts from the Zhytomyr Local Government Development Centre, established with the support of the U-LEAD with Europe Programme and MinRegion.
“The Ruzhyn Rayon is the only rayon with no AHs established. Today, hromadas move on from intentions to form AH to concrete actions in this direction. It was a complicated process, because the local elite is passive. Due to joint efforts of active residents, business, and government, we have a result,” said Serhiy Romanovych, decentralisation adniser of the Zhytomyr LGDC.
