Waste treatment: what the International Expert Discussion has covered

Ukrainian environmental standards are tougher than those of the EU, however, their following is troublesome.

It was claimed by the head of the Northern Environmental Financial Corporation in Ukraine NEFCO Yuliya Shevchuk during the third session “Infrastructure: a human being and the environment” within 2021 International Expert Discussion: Partnership for Development.

Head of the Mizhgyrya settlement Vasyl Schur (the Zakarpatya oblast) was a speaker of the event. He shared difficulties faced by municipalities:

“We have more problems while recycling wastes and with landfills than with waste collection. Moreover, there is no space in towns for a refuse dump, that is why thorough waste sorting is the only option”.
