The city of Volodymyr-Volynskyi received an international candidate status of “Child and Youth Friendly Community”.
As informed by the official website, the documents were received in Kyiv by Yaroslav Matviychuk, first deputy mayor, and Vyacheslav Petruk, head of the Department of Education, Youth and Sports.
This Programme has been implemented since 1996 in 38 countries and has already covered 3,000 municipal districts. In Ukraine, it started in the spring of 2018 after the signing of the Memorandum between UNICEF, the Government of Ukraine and partners. More than 160 cities and amalgamated hromadas from all over Ukraine declared their intention to join the UNICEF global initiative. Volodymyr-Volynskyi joined the first cohort of municipalities that are leaders in the implementation of the initiative and receive technical support from UNICEF.
