Young people in Ukraine do not often participate in their hromada life. Many young Ukrainians go abroad. In this regard, the issue of quality and effectiveness of working with youth in hromadas is gaining “public weight”. In Ukraine, the “youth work” concept is not defined by the law, and a “youth worker” profession does not officially exist. At the same time, in almost every hromada there is a person responsible for the implementation of youth policy. Young people start working in small towns and villages, realising that it is the best investment in their hromada. But what indicators can measure the “quality” of youth work? How can a “successful” or “unsuccessful” hromada be defined in the context of youth work? To solve these issues, a project “Youth Work at the Local Level in South-Eastern Ukraine" was implemented, during which the study was conducted from May till December 2018: clear indicators for the evaluation of youth work at the local level were identified and, based on them, the current state of work with youth in the cities and hromadas of the Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk Oblasts was analysed.
The outcomes of the project resulted in the publication “Youth Work at the Local Level in South-Eastern Ukraine: results of the project” (DOWNLOAD (86 MB).
